Trauma
Trauma is defined as an emotional reaction to an event which causes physical and or psychological harm for the individual. Trauma is a broad term which encompasses many examples of situations a person could be traumatised by. This can include events such as:
Physical/sexual assault, emotional abuse, death, violence, witnessing a tragedy and many more.

Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy is rooted in emotional and behavioural responses. Trauma therapy provides a space to learn about normal responses to trauma and specifically how a traumatic event has impacted the individual.

There are a large variety of different activities or strategies that used within the trauma-focused treatment process. These trauma-focused activities may look different based on age, trauma experience, setting, or location; creative strategies and activities to address memories, emotions, or problematic behaviours associated with traumatic experiences are all part of the therapy process.
